Colorado authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a dog breeder, Paul Peavey, who was found dead last Saturday. The authorities are treating his death as a homicide, but do not believe the public is in danger. Peavey, who owned Elite European Dobermans, had 10 puppies missing from his property, which are still unaccounted for. The sheriff’s office has asked for the public’s help in locating these puppies, as they may have been sold since last Tuesday.
Peavey’s autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, and the results are pending. Peavey’s friend, Bruce Boynton, organized a search party that discovered Peavey’s body, which was covered with sticks, stones, and debris. The authorities are working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to investigate Peavey’s death, but no arrests have been made, and no additional details have been released.
Peavey’s business website stated that he was a dog lover who had been breeding Doberman dogs for years. He raised the dogs on 110 acres of land and delivered up to two litters per year. The missing puppies were all microchipped, so authorities have asked anyone who recently purchased a Doberman in the area to check for a microchip to determine if it was one of Peavey’s. The community is shocked and saddened by Peavey’s death, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding it is ongoing.
