North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui visited Russia this week for conferences promoting bilateral ties, meeting with her Russian counterpart to discuss ways to strengthen relations. The missile launches also followed a showcase of centrifuges producing fuel for North Korea’s nuclear weapons, with leader Kim Jong Un calling for more weapons-grade material to expand their arsenal. These developments highlight increased tensions in the region due to North Korea’s ongoing missile tests and nuclear ambitions.
