Flooding in Galati County displaces thousands and destroys homes

Gendarmes and volunteers are working tirelessly to assist local residents in clearing mud from their homes and recovering from the impact of extreme weather in Romania’s Galati county. Thousands of homes were washed away by flooding, leaving many displaced. In Italy, the clean-up effort has begun in Emilia-Romagna, with volunteers assisting those affected in Romagna. The damage is still being assessed, but the government has approved 20 million euros in aid. Hungary is also bracing for flooding as the Danube River reaches peak levels, with authorities fortifying key infrastructure points with sandbags. The devastating effects of the extreme weather have left communities in need of assistance, with support pouring in from both volunteers and government aid.
