Harris-supporting sticky notes appear in women’s restrooms, gyms, and on tampon boxes

In the weeks leading up to Election Day, a group of women across the country has organized online to spread pro-Kamala Harris messages using sticky notes. They write messages like “Woman to woman: No one sees your vote at the polls. Vote Harris/Walz” and post them in various public places such as bathroom stalls, gym mirrors, and tampon boxes. The women, inspired by each other’s ideas on social media, aim to empower others to vote for Harris. The campaign appears to have started spontaneously, without direct involvement from the Harris campaign.

The women, mostly organized through pro-Harris Facebook groups, come from red states where they feel that women’s voices are often silenced or influenced by their spouses or family members. Writing and posting sticky notes allows them to participate in politics without fear of backlash, as it is anonymous and non-confrontational. Some women have even taken steps to streamline the process by ordering pre-printed sticky notes.

Organizing primarily online, the women have formed close-knit groups like the “La Las” and “Cat Ladies for Kamala Harris” to support each other and encourage political engagement. Despite claiming no involvement, the Harris campaign has acknowledged the grassroots effort. Women in the group have expressed a desire to empower other women to vote independently and without fear, regardless of their political beliefs. The movement seems to have resonated with many women across the country, providing a way for them to participate in the political process and support their chosen candidate.
