If re-elected, Donald Trump pledges to pursue criminal charges against Google

Former President Donald Trump threatened to pursue criminal charges against Google if he is elected president in 2024, claiming that the company was unfairly displaying negative news articles about him while promoting positive stories about his opponent, Kamala Harris. The threat was made on the Truth Social platform, with Trump accusing Google of illegal activity and interference in elections.

Google has denied manipulating search results to benefit any political party and stated that both campaign websites appear at the top of relevant search queries. However, conservatives have long criticized Google for allegedly favoring Democrats in search results. The Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog, has previously reported on Google’s alleged bias favoring Democrats.

In addition to his threat against Google, Trump has also vowed to prosecute supposed opponents in other instances. He recently threatened to pursue criminal charges against individuals he believes engaged in election fraud against him and called for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to face prosecution for not preventing the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.

At a campaign rally in Michigan, Trump also called for an investigation into Pelosi and her husband over their sale of Visa stock before the justice department brought an antitrust lawsuit against the credit-card company. Trump’s post about Google search results is part of a pattern of him vowing to prosecute those he perceives as enemies if he is elected president in 2024.
