Tech billionaire Elon Musk stated that all voting should be done in person with paper ballots and ID to prevent potential voter fraud. This contradicts his own history of voting by mail and his super PAC’s efforts to encourage mail-in voting. Musk also promoted a debunked conspiracy theory about Dominion Voting Systems rigging elections. Despite widespread use of mail-in and absentee ballots, Musk opposes them due to concerns about fraud. He has a super PAC that promotes absentee voting, but he has given conflicting statements on the issue. Musk has also made false claims about voter fraud and election integrity, including suggesting that Democrats are bringing in unauthorized immigrants to vote. During a town hall event in Pennsylvania, Musk answered a variety of questions on topics ranging from business advice to conspiracy theories. He even made a joke about the pipe bombs left near the U.S. Capitol before the Jan. 6 attacks. Musk’s statements and actions regarding voter fraud and election integrity have drawn criticism and questions about his consistency on the issue.
