The No. 21 Men’s Soccer team from Providence College suffered a tough loss on Saturday at Georgetown University. The Friars were unable to find the back of the net, falling 3-0 to the Hoyas.
Georgetown jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 14th minute and never looked back. The Friars struggled to generate any offense throughout the match, managing just six shots on goal compared to Georgetown’s 14.
The loss drops Providence’s record to 6-3-1 on the season, with a 2-2-0 mark in Big East Conference play. Despite the setback, Head Coach Craig Stewart is confident that his team will bounce back and continue to compete at a high level.
“We came up short today, but I believe in this group of players and their ability to respond to adversity,” Stewart said after the match. “We will learn from this experience and come back stronger in our next game.”
The Friars will look to regroup and refocus as they prepare for their next match against St. John’s University. Providence will have to tighten up their defense and improve their offensive output in order to come away with a victory.
Overall, while the loss to Georgetown was a tough outcome for the Friars, they remain optimistic about their chances for the remainder of the season. With a talented roster and a motivated coaching staff, Providence College Men’s Soccer is poised to continue competing at a high level and making a run in the Big East Conference.
