Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose alleged sexual misconduct sparked the #MeToo movement, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and is undergoing treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. Weinstein’s legal health care representative confirmed the diagnosis but did not provide further details out of respect for his privacy. This news comes after Weinstein recently underwent emergency heart surgery and battled Covid-19 and double pneumonia. Weinstein’s health issues coincide with his ongoing legal battles, including Manhattan prosecutors trying to combine his original 2020 sexual crimes with new charges. A New York conviction against Weinstein was overturned this year due to prejudicial rulings, but he is currently serving a 16-year sentence for rape in Los Angeles. His legal team is appealing this conviction. Despite his health challenges and legal troubles, Weinstein remains behind bars as his legal saga continues.
