Providence College Women’s Basketball Team will kick off their 2024-25 season with an exhibition game against Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, October 29th. The team features veterans Olivia Olsen and Grace Efosa, who were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The Friars have been picked to finish third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll and will welcome new additions, including graduate transfer Mackayla Scarlett. Head Coach Erin Batth, in her second season, aims to build on the team’s successful 2023-24 campaign, which included a WNIT selection.
The team boasts a strong defense, with 14 opponents held below 40-percent shooting last season. Players like Olivia Olsen have excelled in blocking shots, while Grace Efosa made history by being named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team in 2024. With a lineup of experienced players, including seniors and graduate students, the Friars are poised for a competitive season ahead.
Southern Connecticut State University, their exhibition game opponent, is led by Head Coach Kate Lynch and features players like Katie Williamson and Mackenzie Helms.
