Shereece Mitchell-Sanchez has been making a significant impact in the Pine Hills community by running a weekly food pantry through her nonprofit, Butterfly Lifestyle, since 2021. Despite facing challenges in partnering with a larger food bank initially, Mitchell-Sanchez persisted and sourced food from restaurants, coffee shops, and convenience stores to provide for the growing demand in her community.
Currently operating out of Rise Up Church, Mitchell-Sanchez offers food to the community every Friday, serving up to 300 families weekly and nearly 5,000 individuals in August alone. Through her dedication and hard work, she has been able to partner with Second Harvest to provide more fresh fruits and vegetables for those in need.
Driving around Central Florida in her cargo van to collect donated food, Mitchell-Sanchez relies on a completely volunteer workforce to distribute meals to those in need. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, and she has exceeded expectations in her mission to help people in need.
On a recent episode of Florida Foodie, Mitchell-Sanchez discussed her ongoing efforts to feed the community and shared stories of how her ambition to help others has led to unexpected outcomes. Her commitment to serving the Pine Hills community and providing essential resources has made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
