Men’s Swim Team Defeats Scranton and Hartwick


The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s swim team secured victories over Hartwick College and the University of Scranton in a tri-meet on Saturday. The Ducks emerged victorious with strong performances, defeating Hartwick 193-87 and Scranton 149-135.

Stevens kicked off the meet with a win in the 200-medley relay, with Deo Bove, Angel Velasquez, Edward Platonov, and Will Stibor claiming first place. The team continued to dominate with top finishes in various events, including the 200 free, 100-back, and 100-freestyle.

Notable performances included Platonov and Stibor’s top times in the 200 free, and Timmerman’s first-place finish in the 50-free. The Ducks showcased their depth with multiple swimmers earning top finishes in different events throughout the meet.

Head Coach Adam Schneider praised the team’s victories, highlighting standout performances from Joe Sparshott in the 200 Butterfly and Delaney Klaus in the 50 free. Schneider expressed confidence in the team’s progress heading into the upcoming TCNJ Invitational.

The Ducks will continue their competitive season at The College of New Jersey next weekend, where they will participate in the three-day TCNJ Invitational. With a successful showing in the tri-meet, Stevens looks poised to continue their winning streak and make a strong impact at the upcoming competition.
