The cast members of “Saturday Night Live” returned to biting satire after last week’s attempt to show allegiance to President-elect Donald Trump. The show presented a sketch in which outgoing president Joe Biden and Trump met at the White House, with the two presidents engaging in a serious discussion while shooing away reporters. The sketch poked fun at Trump’s cabinet picks, portraying them as unconventional choices. The show also featured Alec Baldwin as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who embraced vaccine skepticism, and Sarah Sherman as Matt Gaetz, Trump’s pick for the Department of Justice. The sketch comedy show also featured a mock podcast called “Banger Boyz!” in which Trump offered some of the cast members positions in his cabinet. The news segment “Weekend Update” also took a look at Trump’s choices, with co-host Colin Jost joking that Trump was already announcing who he was going to fire in six months. Charli xcx served as both the host and musical guest for the night. The show airs on NBC, which is a division of NBCUniversal and the parent company of NBC News.
