Burrillville Kicks Off Holiday Season with Festive Bazaar

BURRILLVILLE – The holiday season was warmly greeted on November 16 at Our Lady of Good Help Church in Mapleville during "The Wonder of Christmas Bazaar and Crafts Fair." The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia as shoppers enjoyed traditional holiday music performed by Missy Ducharme, while the church basement buzzed with excitement as Bingo calls echoed through the space.

Attendees were treated to a delightful array of handmade gifts, Christmas decorations, gift baskets, and delectable baked goods. Organizer Cindy Manning expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support and the dedicated volunteers who make the event possible, stating, “I couldn’t do without them.”

The event served as both a festive gathering and a community fundraiser, drawing participation from parishioners and locals alike. For many, such as Nancy Ringer, volunteering represents a cherished connection with their “parish family.” Alongside the traditional bazaars, the fair featured a penny social raffle, food stalls with offerings like fish and chips, and a lively wine and cheese party.

Beverly Munyon, the gift shop manager, highlighted the event’s success, offering discounts to encourage festive shopping. Meanwhile, familiar faces like volunteer Mary Ellen Rivet and customer Julianne Socci noted the bazaar’s longstanding tradition and community spirit.

Closing the day, the church staff and volunteers prepared for a second bustling day, embodying the spirit of togetherness during this joyful season. The "three churches, one faith community" mantra of the Burrillville Catholic Collaborative was certainly alive as the community celebrated the magic and generosity of the holidays.
