In a commendable initiative under the #AttendanceMattersRI campaign, three Rhode Island schools received recognition for their exceptional attendance rates during the week of November 11, 2024. Governor Dan McKee and Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green announced the accolades, celebrating efforts in maintaining high attendance levels across different educational stages.

Among high schools, East Greenwich High School emerged at the forefront with an impressive attendance rate of 96.6%. Portsmouth Middle School led the middle school category, achieving a rate of 96.2%. Meanwhile, Stadium Elementary School in Cranston claimed the top spot for elementary schools, boasting a remarkable attendance rate of 97.2%.

Additionally, the Governor and Commissioner spotlighted schools that exhibited significant attendance gains compared to the previous week. Matunuck Elementary School in South Kingstown showcased a commendable 4.7% increase, Blackstone Valley Prep’s Upper Elementary and Middle School recorded a 3.1% uptick, and RI Nurses Institute Middle College Charter School achieved the highest gain at 5.6%.

Governor McKee and Commissioner Infante-Green extended their congratulations to all schools in Rhode Island for their steadfast commitment to prioritizing attendance, emphasizing the vital role of consistent learning in education.
