Football fans are in for a treat this Thanksgiving weekend as the FCS playoffs kick off on Saturday, Nov. 30. Last season, the FCS playoffs provided thrilling entertainment with four games going to overtime. South Dakota State emerged as the champion, defeating Montana in the national championship game.
This year, the FCS playoffs will feature 24 teams, with the top eight seeds receiving first-round byes. The championship game will be held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Monday, Jan. 6. The bracket includes matchups like UT Martin vs. New Hampshire and Northern Arizona vs. Abilene Christian in the first round.
The playoff selection show will air on ESPN on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 12:30 p.m. ET. Viewers can tune in to ESPN+ or Fubo to watch the show and follow the playoff schedule. The first round of games will take place on Nov. 30, with matchups like Illinois State vs. SE Missouri State and Central Connecticut vs. Rhode Island.
The excitement continues with second-round games on Dec. 7, followed by quarterfinals on Dec. 13 and 14. The semifinals are scheduled for Dec. 21, with the national championship game set for Sunday, Jan. 5.
