A man was detained by Mexican National Guard members after attempting to divert a domestic Mexican flight to the United States. The incident occurred on Volaris Flight 3041, en route from Guanajuato to Tijuana, when the man assaulted a flight attendant and tried to enter the cockpit. Crew members were able to subdue him, and the pilot made an emergency landing at Guadalajara International Airport where the man was handed over to authorities. Volaris stated that their crew followed safety procedures and ensured the safety of all passengers and crew members. The 31-year-old man, a Mexican national traveling with his wife and two children, claimed that a close relative had been kidnapped and he had received a threat that he would die if he went to Tijuana. The Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection stated that Mexico’s Federal Public Ministry and Attorney General’s Office would oversee his case. The flight eventually continued to its final destination. This incident highlights the quick response and coordinated efforts of airline crew members and authorities in ensuring the safety and security of passengers and the successful resolution of a potentially dangerous situation.
