Rhode Island Prevails Over Men’s Basketball Team, 69-63


The Providence College men’s basketball team fell to the Rhode Island Rams with a final score of 69-63. Seniors Bensley Joseph and Bryce Hopkins led the Friars with 16 points each, while Hopkins also grabbed eight rebounds. The Friars took an early lead in the first half but struggled to maintain it as the Rams fought back and eventually secured the win. Despite a strong performance from Hopkins and Joseph, the Friars were unable to overcome the Rams’ offensive efforts.

Providence shot 43.9% from the field, 25% from three-point range, and 53.3% from the free-throw line. Rhode Island shot 42.6% from the field, 33.3% from three, and 63.2% from the free-throw line. Three Friars scored in double figures, with Hopkins, Joseph, and Jayden Pierre all contributing to the team’s efforts.

The Friars now prepare to open BIG EAST play on the road against the DePaul Blue Demons. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Providence leads the all-time series against DePaul and will look to continue their success in this matchup.
