Former Central Falls Municipal Court Judge Joseph Molina Flynn abruptly resigned after FBI agents raided his immigration law office in downtown Providence. The reason for the raid has not been disclosed, but footage showed agents carrying out boxes of paperwork and computers. The raid was unrelated to President Trump’s recent executive orders on immigration.
Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera expressed concern over the situation and emphasized transparency and accountability. Following Molina Flynn’s resignation, Associate Judge Robert McConnell was temporarily appointed to preside over cases.
Molina Flynn, who was born in Colombia and came to the US at the age of 9, obtained lawful permanent resident status and citizenship after spending years as an undocumented immigrant. He founded Molina Flynn Law Offices in 2015, specializing in immigration, family, and criminal law. He also teaches at Roger Williams University Law School.
The FBI confirmed the court-authorized raid but did not provide further details. Authorities have not disclosed whether Molina Flynn is facing criminal charges.
