Athletics Hall of Fame Welcomes Eight New Inductees

The Rhode Island Athletics Hall of Fame is set to welcome eight new members in the Spring of 2025, marking the largest class of inductees in 21 years. The new members include Geoff Cameron (Men’s Soccer), Jeremy Collins (Men’s Track & Field), Lilli Falconer Deering (Women’s Swimming & Diving), Jasmine Jennings (Women’s Track & Field), Anthony Latronica (Men’s Soccer), Darren Rizzi (Football), Michael Sims (Men’s Golf), and Kevin Smith (Football).

Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn expressed the impressive nature of the class, highlighting their exceptional achievements both within the university and on a national scale. The selection process was challenging due to the high caliber of candidates, with over 30 nominations reviewed this year. Despite the difficult decisions, Bjorn noted that all candidates will remain on the ballot for the next three selection cycles.

The induction ceremony for the 2025 Hall of Fame class will take place on March 8, coinciding with the men’s basketball regular-season finale against Fordham. Each new inductee has left a lasting legacy at Rhode Island through their athletic prowess and accomplishments. From All-American honors to conference championships, the incoming class represents a diverse range of sports and achievements.

The Hall of Fame aims to move to an annual selection process starting next year to ensure continued recognition of deserving individuals. The 2025 induction ceremony promises to be a celebration of the rich history of athletic success at Rhode Island University.
