Snow blankets Newport County, with reports of up to 2 inches accumulation

Residents of Newport County woke up to a winter wonderland on Sunday morning as a snowstorm swept through the area, leaving up to 2 inches of snow in some spots. The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, MA released snowfall totals for the storm that passed through from Saturday to Sunday.

Portsmouth topped the list in Newport County with 2 inches reported, followed closely by Middletown and Newport, also reporting 2 inches. Jamestown and Tiverton saw slightly less snow with 1.5 inches each, while Little Compton received the least with only 0.5 inches reported.

While Newport County was spared from freezing rain, other parts of Rhode Island weren’t as lucky with West Warwick and North Smithfield reporting freezing rain amounts. Various snowfall reports were recorded across different counties in Rhode Island during the storm.

Overall, Newport County residents enjoyed a picturesque winter scene but still needed to navigate the snowy conditions during the storm.
