Providence Man Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase in Rhode Island and Massachusetts

Andrew Fernandez, a 36-year-old Providence man, was arrested by the Woonsocket Police Department on February 21, 2025, after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fernandez faces multiple charges, including domestic stalking, domestic cyber stalking, violation of a no-contact order, high-speed pursuit, obstruction, and driving with an expired license.

Police attempted to stop Fernandez around 8:20 a.m. when they spotted him driving a vehicle with Massachusetts plates. Fernandez, who had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest, led officers on a chase that went through Woonsocket, North Smithfield, Lincoln, North Providence, Providence, and into Massachusetts before returning to Rhode Island.

Fernandez was ultimately apprehended by Providence police and turned over to the Woonsocket department. He is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions and is expected to appear in court on February 24. The Woonsocket Police Department commended the officers involved for their swift actions in apprehending the suspect.
