The Saint Louis Billikens secured a wire-to-wire victory over the Rhode Island Rams in an Atlantic 10 matchup, winning 81-66. Robbie Avila led the Billikens with 22 points, while Gibson Jimerson recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Rhode Island’s Jamarques Lawrence scored 19 points and David Green added 16 in the loss.
Despite URI narrowing the gap to just one point early in the second half, Saint Louis pulled away with a 7-0 run and outscored the Rams the rest of the way. The Billikens dominated the boards, outrebounding Rhode Island 42-29 and preventing any offensive rebounds for the Rams.
With the win, the Billikens move into a tie for fourth place in the A-10 standings alongside Dayton and Saint Joseph’s. The Rams fall to ninth place in the conference with a record of 17-9 overall and 6-8 in A-10 play.
Rhode Island will look to bounce back when they host Dayton on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, giving the Rams a chance to improve their standing in the conference.
