The Community College of Rhode Island lifted its lockdown after an armed suspect was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon. The lockdown was put into place at the CCRI Lincoln campus following reports of a disturbance on a RIPTA bus involving a man carrying a knife, later identified as Junior Sage of Woonsocket. Police conducted a thorough search of the campus and apprehended Sage, who was found with two small picket knives and an airsoft-style pistol in his backpack. Officials confirmed that Sage is not a student at CCRI and has no affiliation with the school. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 1:30 p.m. as authorities announced the suspect was in custody. Sage, who is on probation following a previous arrest, is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The swift action of law enforcement agencies including the Rhode Island State Police, Lincoln police, and campus police ensured the safety of students and staff at CCRI during the incident. The college community can now resume normal activities following the resolution of the situation.
