Rhode Island Set to Wrap Up Men’s Basketball Regular Season

Fordham Men’s Basketball Team Prepares for Final Regular Season Game

The Fordham men’s basketball team is gearing up for their final regular-season game against Rhode Island on Saturday. The game, which will be broadcast on ESPN+, comes on the heels of a seven-game losing streak for the Rams, culminating in an 81-58 defeat by George Washington.

Graduate student Abdou Tsimbila shined in his last game at the Rose Hill Gym, recording a double-double and becoming just the fourth Ram in program history to surpass 200 career blocks. Senior Jackie Johnson III also had a standout performance, scoring 19 points and tying a program record for 3-pointers in a season.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island, with a record of 17-12, is looking to bounce back from a recent loss to Saint Joseph’s. The Rams will be led by Sebastian Thomas and David Green, who are averaging 17.4 and 14.7 points per game, respectively.

This upcoming game will mark the second meeting of the season between Fordham and Rhode Island, with the series history favoring URI at 42-33. However, Fordham has won three of their last four matchups against Rhode Island, including a close victory earlier this season.

Following Saturday’s game, Fordham will shift their focus to the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which kicks off next Wednesday in Washington, D.C. The Rams will be looking to carry their momentum from a potential win against Rhode Island into the tournament.
