Westerly, R.I. – Four families in the White Rock region of Westerly were displaced after a large fire broke out on Sunday morning. The fire, which was reported around 11:00 a.m. on Cottage Street, required crews from Westerly and Pawcatuck to respond. Fortunately, everyone was able to safely evacuate the building and no injuries were reported.
However, the blaze directly impacted four units in the building, leading to the displacement of the families living there. The State Fire Marshal’s office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
The community is coming together to support the affected families during this difficult time. Donations and resources are being coordinated to assist them as they work on finding new temporary housing and rebuilding their lives.
Residents in the area are urged to check their own fire safety measures and ensure that they have working smoke alarms and an emergency evacuation plan in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
