Samsung Electronics and KDDI Research are teaming up to advance the development of 6G technology by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. These systems use multiple antennas for signal transmission and reception, improving speed and coverage.
The collaboration aims to optimize distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) systems through AI-driven solutions, leading to higher transmission speeds and increased network-wide capacity. Industry alliances like the AI-RAN Alliance and the Next G Alliance are supporting Samsung’s efforts to incorporate AI into communication technologies.
According to Paul (Kyungwhoon) Cheun, CTO of Samsung Electronics, this research partnership will revolutionize wireless telecommunications by combining telecommunications and AI technologies. Meanwhile, Hajime Nakamura, President and CEO of KDDI Research, anticipates that their joint efforts will enhance wireless quality and create new value in 6G technology.
