The Central Connecticut State lacrosse team suffered a tough 18-1 loss to Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon, dropping their record to 0-2 for the season. The Rams improved to 2-0 with the victory.
URI got off to a strong start, scoring 22 seconds into the game and building a 4-0 lead by the halfway point of the first quarter. Adrien Wise notched the Blue Devils’ lone goal at the 5:16 mark on a free position shot.
Jadyn Jones had a standout performance in goal, recording a career-high 10 saves in 45 minutes of play. Wise also scored her first career goal, and Maeve Tobler made two saves in the final quarter. Isabella Intorcio led the team with two ground balls, while An Poropat and Abbey Cannon each had two draw controls. Sky Guadio and Katie Hurlbut both recorded a caused turnover.
For URI, Brinley Myers and Calli Bunn each scored four goals, with Caitlin Dellecave contributing two goals and four assists.
The Blue Devils will look to bounce back when they travel to face Yale on Tuesday, February 25th for their final game of the season-opening three-game road trip. Despite the tough loss, the team is determined to improve and show their resilience in the upcoming match.
