Students from William M. Davies Jr. Career and Technical High School in Lincoln and Chariho Career & Technical Center in Richmond were top winners at the Rhode Island Hospitality Association’s 13th Annual Rhode Island High School Culinary Arts, Foodservice & Hotel Management Competition. The event, held at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick, featured seven local schools competing for $700,000 in scholarship opportunities and a chance to represent the state at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore.
The competition included culinary arts, food service management, and hospitality and tourism management elements. Students showcased their cooking skills, food safety knowledge, menu creativity, and business concepts in a “Shark Tank” style setting. Davies Tech teams won the culinary and food service competitions, while Chariho Tech teams excelled in the hospitality and tourism competition.
Exeter Job Corps Academy and the Newport Area Career and Technical Center also placed in the culinary competition, while the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center and Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center achieved success in the food service and hospitality/tourism competitions. The students demonstrated their talent and creativity in the culinary industry, showcasing their potential for future success.
