Adtran Launches White Rabbit for Ultra-Precise Timing Solutions
Adtran has announced the launch of White Rabbit on its Oscilloquartz timing platforms, providing sub-nanosecond synchronization for industries requiring extremely precise timing. White Rabbit enhances IEEE 1588 PTP with techniques like precise delay calibration and phase tracking to achieve sub-nanosecond accuracy. This development is expected to benefit metrology labs, financial institutions, data centers, and research organizations seeking superior data consistency and performance.
Unlike other implementations that need dedicated hardware, Adtran’s software-based approach allows for a seamless upgrade on existing Oscilloquartz timing solutions, making high-precision synchronization easily accessible. Adtran’s OSA 5412, OSA 5422, OSA 5430, and OSA 5440 timing solutions now feature White Rabbit, extending standard PTP capabilities to achieve sub-nanosecond accuracy. This enhancement enables stable synchronization over fiber, ensuring networks stay perfectly in sync across multiple locations.
Gil Biran, GM of Oscilloquartz at Adtran, emphasized the importance of ultra-precise timing in industries reliant on real-time data. He highlighted how integrating White Rabbit into their PTP grandmaster solutions makes achieving sub-nanosecond synchronization more accessible for customers, reinforcing Adtran’s position as a leader in high-precision timing solutions.
Igal Pinhasov, VP of Product Line Management at Oscilloquartz, discussed how accurate time synchronization has become crucial for critical network infrastructure. By integrating White Rabbit technology into existing timing solutions, Adtran has pushed precision beyond nanoseconds and into picoseconds. This level of accuracy allows organizations to timestamp events with certainty, eliminate timing drift, and support advanced applications in science and communications with ultra-responsive, high-performance infrastructure.
