Charlestown residents Beth Logue and Lisa Lynch are honoring their late mother, Moira Perna, with a new initiative called Moira’s Mission. Perna died in a car fire in 2020, prompting her daughters to start an effort to provide fire extinguishers for cars. The inspiration for this initiative came from a conversation with a bystander who wished he had a fire extinguisher to help save their mother. The pair reunited with first responders who tried to save Perna’s life, receiving support and praise for their life-saving campaign. The emotional reunion was organized by Lisa Brunetti, founder of the nonprofit Universe Juice, which aims to connect survivors, families, and first responders. South Kingstown residents can pick up free fire extinguishers from the Union Fire District Office beginning on the week of March 17. This initiative seeks to have a positive impact on public safety and honor the memory of Moira Perna. To learn more about Universe Juice, visit their website.
