The GW volleyball team defeated the Rhode Island Rams in a quick three sets, splitting the A-10 series. With the win, GW moves to 9-7 in conference play with just one week left of regular season action. The Buff & Blue swung an impressive .366 over the course of the match, with Cianna Tejada, MC Daubendiek, and Haylee Brown each contributing 10 kills. Dilara Elmacıoğlu provided 19 assists as a setter, and Tejada added six blocks on defense.
In the first set, Rhode Island started strong, but GW rallied to claim a 25-21 victory with a .529 hitting percentage. The second set saw GW build a substantial lead, ultimately winning 25-20 despite Rhode Island’s attempts to regain momentum. The third set was tightly contested, with six lead changes, but GW was able to push ahead and win 25-20, securing a match sweep.
After splitting the series with Rhode Island, GW will now prepare for the final A-10 series of the 2024 campaign against Loyola Chicago at the Smith Center. The series will kick off with a 6 p.m. matchup next Friday. With this win, GW looks to finish the season strong and secure a spot in the conference tournament.
