Environmental enforcement agencies from Massachusetts, Maine, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service recently collaborated on a multi-state investigation into the illegal transportation of wild game meat. According to the Massachusetts Environmental Police Department, wildlife was unlawfully taken in Maine and transported to Massachusetts. Following the investigation, two search warrants were executed at locations in Massachusetts, resulting in the discovery of a large moose skull with antlers, 150 packages of wild game meat, and various licensing documents.
The Maine Warden Service then issued multiple summons for Fish and Game violations to the individuals involved, while the MEPD charged them with two counts of Transport of Illegally Obtained game from outside of the Commonwealth. Despite the charges, the agencies did not disclose the number of individuals involved or their identities.
This joint effort highlights the importance of enforcing wildlife protection laws and ensuring that illegally obtained wild game meat does not cross state lines. The agencies are committed to upholding environmental regulations and protecting wildlife populations from unlawful activities.
