One person is dead and three are missing after an 18-foot vessel capsized near Goat Island on St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred Friday evening and the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department, U.S. Coast Guard, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission all responded to the scene. Four people were rescued from the water, but four more were possibly trapped underneath the capsized boat. Despite rescue efforts by divers and helicopters, only one of the missing individuals was found deceased. The search for the remaining three, including an adult and two minors, continued throughout the night and resumed the next morning. The cause of the boat capsizing is under investigation.
