The George Washington baseball team secured a thrilling 8-7 comeback victory over Rhode Island to even the weekend series at Kingston, Rhode Island. Trailing 7-2 after four innings, GW’s offense came alive, scoring six runs in the final four innings to seal the win.

After a back-and-forth start that saw both teams score early, Rhode Island took a commanding lead with a six-run third and fourth inning. However, GW’s pitching staff stepped up, holding Rhody scoreless for the rest of the game. Cade Davis, Andrew Cutler, and Matt Bruno combined for five scoreless innings and five strikeouts.

GW’s comeback was led by Ty Acker, Charlie Rogan, and Jude Clough, with key hits and RBIs to cut into Rhode Island’s lead. Clough’s game-tying double and Schwartz’s go-ahead single in the ninth inning sealed the victory for George Washington.

With the win, GW improved to 3-0 on the season. The rubber match of the series is set for tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Fans can follow live stats and results on GWsports.com.
