The Partnership for Rhode Island, a nonprofit business group comprised of top CEOs in the state, is searching for a new executive director as Tom Giordano steps down after eight years. Giordano made over $300,000 in 2023 and played a key role in harnessing the business influence in Rhode Island to navigate government bureaucracy. The partnership, initially established under Governor Gina Raimondo, has been involved in major policy initiatives, such as funding the Johns Hopkins University study leading to the state takeover of Providence schools. The organization has also been a significant funder in securing federal grants through CompeteRI. Giordano’s next move remains undisclosed, but the partnership aims to focus on business attraction in the future. John Fernandez from Brown University Health currently chairs the board. As Giordano stays in Rhode Island, he will continue to play a vital role in the state’s business community. The partnership’s efforts have been significant in advancing the state’s business landscape, and Giordano’s departure marks a new chapter for the organization.
