Six people killed in US strikes on Sanaa province, according to Yemen’s Houthis

The Houthi group in Yemen claimed that US strikes in Sanaa province killed six people and wounded more than a dozen others. The group also reported that a US MQ-9 drone was shot down in Hajjah governorate. Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah news stated that two US raids targeted al-Yatmah area in Khab and al-Sha’af District in al-Jawf governate. The US has not commented on the drone incident. Since March 15, the US has been carrying out air strikes in Houthi-held areas to stop threats to maritime routes, resulting in civilian casualties and destruction. The Houthis began targeting ships and Israeli territory in response to the Gaza war in October 2023. They claimed responsibility for a missile launch towards an Israeli military base in Ashdod and Ben Gurion International Airport. Israel intercepted the missile, and the Houthis have expressed support for a Gaza ceasefire. The group has pledged to halt military operations if a truce is implemented. The situation in Yemen remains volatile, with ongoing violence and tensions in the region.
