Citizens Awards $180,000 in Education Grants to 8 Rhode Island Nonprofits


In celebration of Financial Literacy Month in April, Citizens Financial Group Inc. has announced that it is providing $180,000 in financial education grants to eight local Rhode Island nonprofits. The grants will support programs aimed at helping students, individuals, and small-business owners build the knowledge and confidence to manage their finances effectively.
Citizens colleagues will also be volunteering to implement the Citizens Money Essentials financial education curriculum, which covers essential topics such as budgeting, saving, and investing. Citizens Bank Rhode Island President, Keith Kelly, emphasized that the grant money and volunteer support will help people build brighter financial futures.
The grants will be provided to organizations such as West Elmwood Housing Development Corp., Progreso Latino, and Junior Achievement of Rhode Island. This funding is a part of Citizens Financial Group’s broader commitment to provide $2.6 million to 134 nonprofits.Overall, this initiative aims to empower individuals and families across Rhode Island to make informed financial decisions and secure a more stable future.
