Helicopter tour company temporarily suspends flights following fatal crash in Hudson River

The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded New York Helicopter Charter, the company responsible for the helicopter tour that crashed into the Hudson River, killing all six people on board. The FAA issued an emergency order to ground the company due in part to the firing of their director of operations. The crash occurred at 3:17 p.m. last Thursday, resulting in the deaths of Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and the pilot. New York Helicopter Charter had voluntarily stopped flights after the crash. The FAA is continuing its investigation and reviewing the company’s operations through the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
