US and European negotiators are set to meet in London for ceasefire talks regarding the conflict in Ukraine. There is speculation that Russia may be willing to drop its claim to parts of Ukraine it does not occupy, with the condition that the US recognizes the 2014 annexation of Crimea. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that no such proposal has been shared with him. Additionally, Ukraine would be prevented from joining NATO by a US veto, while future security guarantees would come from a UK/French-led coalition of countries. A recent drone attack in Marhanets resulted in the deaths of nine people, part of a series of attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine. The talks were supposed to include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, but the White House has now sent Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg in his place. Stressing the urgency of the situation, the negotiations aim to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
