Wisconsin County Judge Arrested by FBI for Allegedly Obstructing Immigration Enforcement
Wisconsin county judge Hannah Dugan was arrested by the FBI on charges of obstruction for allegedly helping Eduardo Flores Ruiz evade immigration enforcement. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that Dugan intentionally misled federal agents and endangered the public by allowing the “illegal alien” to avoid arrest. Dugan’s attorney maintains her innocence, stating that the arrest was not in the interest of public safety.
Dugan, who was elected to the county court in 2016, appeared in federal court and was released from custody pending her next court appearance on May 15. The arrest comes amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on local officials hindering federal immigration efforts. Details of the case have not been released, and the Justice Department has not commented on the matter. Patel commended the FBI Milwaukee division for their work in apprehending the suspect.
