North Providence Councilman Autiello has confirmed he is considering a run for the vacant Senate seat following the loss of Senate President Ruggerio. With 15 years of Town Council experience and a background as a policy analyst in the Senate, Autiello expressed gratitude to Ruggerio for his mentorship and support in his political journey. "We are in tough times politically, and I understand the impact of legislation on local taxpayers," he stated, highlighting his readiness for the challenge.
Autiello currently has $32,811 in his campaign account, while fellow North Providence resident Famiglietti is also eyeing the seat. At 64, she works as a special education teacher and has initiated a nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood poverty.
Verdi, a Democratic National Committeewoman and former legal adviser to Ruggerio, is choosing to mourn before making any political decisions. "I’m not ready to publicly discuss or consider any decisions about District 4," she noted. Cioe, a seasoned candidate who has lost in previous primaries to Ruggerio, is also taking time to remember before deciding on his future.
