Bertucci’s Closes Its Last Rhode Island Location Amid Bankruptcy Filing

Bertucci’s, the renowned Italian restaurant chain, has permanently closed its Warwick, Rhode Island, location following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing on April 24, 2025. This closure marks the end of Bertucci’s presence in Rhode Island, as the Warwick restaurant was the last operating in the state.

The bankruptcy filing, the company’s third in seven years, cited declining consumer demand as a significant factor. In response, Bertucci’s announced a strategic shift towards its new fast-casual concept, Bertucci’s Pronto, with the first location opening on April 23, 2025, in Boston. As part of this restructuring, the company closed five locations, including the Warwick restaurant and four others in Massachusetts: Braintree, Mansfield, North Andover, and Norwood.

Founded in 1981, Bertucci’s has faced financial challenges in recent years, including previous bankruptcy filings in 2018 and 2022. The company has been working to adapt to changing consumer preferences and economic conditions. Despite these efforts, the closure of the Warwick location signifies the end of Bertucci’s operations in Rhode Island.

Customers with gift cards can continue to use them at remaining Bertucci’s locations across New England and Virginia. The company has expressed gratitude for the loyalty of its patrons and aims to ensure a seamless transition during this period of restructuring.
