Stonington Police Arrest Man for Filming Employees in Pizza Shop Bathroom

Stonington, Conn. (WJAR) — Michael Arruda, 46, has been arrested for allegedly filming employees at the Pizza Lady in Pawcatuck without their knowledge. The arrest occurred on April 16, and Arruda faces 12 counts of voyeurism with malice. Reports indicate he placed his phone in the bathroom, capturing footage of nine different women over a three-year span, from March 2021 to September 2024.

Community concerns have grown over this disturbing invasion of privacy, as the incidents reportedly occurred during a time when many relied on the local shop. Connecticut judiciary records reveal that the allegations began to surface in early 2021, escalating into more recent incidents.

Arruda appeared in New London court, where he was released on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on June 4. The police are urging anyone who may have additional information to come forward, as the investigation continues to develop. This case highlights ongoing issues related to personal privacy and safety in public spaces, prompting discussions about the need for heightened vigilance in the community.
