Rhode Island Man Sentenced for Road Rage Incident Involving Tesla
Sumter County, FL – Kris Gadoury, a 33-year-old man from Coventry, Rhode Island, has been sentenced to six months in jail following a road rage incident on Interstate 75 that took place on May 4, 2024. Gadoury pleaded no contest to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Sumter County Court.
The incident began when Gadoury, driving a white Ford F-250 with a trailer, exhibited aggressive driving behavior towards the occupants of a white Tesla with Georgia plates. Witnesses reported that Gadoury’s male passenger threw objects from the truck, hitting the Tesla driver in the arm. The Tesla attempted to pass the truck but Gadoury swerved in front of it multiple times, ultimately colliding with the Tesla.
Following the event, Gadoury and his passenger attempted to deflect blame onto the Tesla driver. However, dash cam footage corroborated the Tesla driver’s account of the incident. An investigation led to further complications when Gadoury’s passenger threatened a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, resulting in their arrest. Aside from jail time, Gadoury has been placed on 30 months probation and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.
