GW Softball Hosts Rhode Island for Senior Day Showdown
WASHINGTON – The George Washington University (GW) softball team is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they host Rhode Island for their final home series of the season. With a formidable 17-2 home record, the team will celebrate Senior Day this Saturday during a pregame ceremony at 12:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader. The series will conclude with a single game on Sunday at the same time, which will be broadcast on ESPN+.
This weekend’s ceremony honors eight student-athletes, including seniors Gabby Polsky and Taylor Puig, along with graduate students Lilly Travieso, Allison Heffley, Anna Reed, Carolyn Skotz, Madi Mays, and graduate assistant Maggie Greco. The GW Athletics department expresses gratitude for their commitment and contributions to the program.
As the team enters the weekend, they sit tied for fourth place in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a record of 12-8, trailing first-place Saint Louis by 2.5 games. The Revolutionaries are also well-positioned, sitting three games ahead of George Mason, who is just outside playoff contention. Rhode Island currently occupies the eighth position in the A-10 standings with a 4-14 record.
The Rams are coming off a strong midweek performance, having swept UMass, but will face a challenging environment at the GW Softball Field where the Revolutionaries boast a perfect 9-0 conference record. Rhode Island’s overall record stands at 12-29, and they rank eighth in team batting average (.248) and ninth in ERA (5.83) within the conference. Key player Kylie Bulinski has been pivotal for the Rams, starting all 41 games this season with a .306 batting average.
GW leads the all-time series against Rhode Island with a record of 28-15, setting the stage for an action-packed weekend.
