Providence Man Arrested for DUI After Crash on I-95

A Providence man was arrested early Wednesday morning for driving under the influence after colliding with a Rhode Island State Police cruiser on I-95 North in Warwick. The incident occurred just before midnight near the I-295 split when the police vehicle, with its lights flashing, was struck by another car that continued down the highway. No injuries were reported from the crash.

State police apprehended the driver, identified as 27-year-old Montrell T. Marshall, who had two children under 13 in his vehicle at the time of the accident. The children were unharmed and are now in the custody of their mother.

Marshall faces multiple charges, including two counts of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs with a child under 13, single counts of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, possession of a schedule I-V controlled substance (oxycodone), possession of a schedule I-V controlled substance (alprazolam), duty to stop in an accident resulting in damage to vehicles, and reckless driving. At the time of his arrest, Marshall was on probation.

The Rhode Island State Police continue to investigate the incident.
