Ukraine Joins NATO’s Science and Technology Strategy Development
Kyiv, Ukraine — In a significant step towards enhancing its defense capabilities, specialists from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense are participating for the first time in the development of NATO’s new Science and Technology Strategy. This initiative reflects Ukraine’s privileged status within NATO’s Science and Technology Organization (STO).
The Science and Technology Strategy serves as a pivotal document that outlines the tasks, objectives, and policies to be adopted by NATO’s Science and Technology Board over the next six years. Ukrainian experts are collaborating closely with STO representatives to ensure their input shapes the strategic framework.
“The involvement of our specialists is a testament to the trust and interest of our partners in deeper collaboration with Ministry of Defense scientists in defense research and development,” stated Volodymyr Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science. He emphasized that this collaboration would not only advance NATO’s Science and Technology Strategy but also strengthen Ukraine’s scientific knowledge base and promote scientific diplomacy.
Additionally, Mirnenko highlighted that these efforts would facilitate Ukraine’s European integration and enhance interoperability with NATO forces. The joint scientific initiatives and technological innovations emerging from this collaboration are expected to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The STO plays a vital role in addressing the scientific and technological needs of NATO and its partner countries, fostering the creation and dissemination of innovative solutions. Ukraine’s participation underscores the growing trust and partnership within NATO as it works to collectively advance defense science and technology.
This move marks a defining moment in Ukraine’s defense landscape, paving the way for an enriched cooperative framework and contributing to the overall security of the region.
