Press Release: Cowboys and Astronauts to Reopen Under New Ownership in Andersonville
ANDERSONVILLE, IL — The beloved men’s lifestyle boutique, Cowboys and Astronauts, is set to reopen this summer after new local owners, Tyler Leasher and Brian Mamassian, purchased the business from founders Matthew Buccilla and Greg Lanier. Located at 1478 W. Summerdale Ave, the store aims to reopen just in time for Andersonville’s Midsommarfest, starting June 13, although a precise date is still pending.
Originally launched in 2017, Cowboys and Astronauts offered a range of products, including men’s clothing, accessories, grooming essentials, and bartending tools. After Buccilla and Lanier relocated outside Chicago, they decided to sell the store, recognizing its significance to the community.
Leasher and Mamassian, long-time customers and partners from Lakeview, expressed their determination to continue the store’s legacy. “We could not let that happen,” said Mamassian. Their combined aspirations and experiences—Leasher’s extensive background in retail with Gap Inc. and Mamassian’s decade in tech consulting—position them to innovate while maintaining the store’s essence.
Leasher will oversee customer experience and visual merchandising, while Mamassian will manage daily operations. Both are eager to engage with customers to ascertain what new brands to introduce while keeping the store’s recognized atmosphere intact.
“We want to preserve the heart of what Cowboys and Astronauts has become but add our spin on it,” Leasher remarked, emphasizing a commitment to community engagement.
Community members can reach out with inquiries at hello@cowboysandastronauts.com, and the store’s existing social media platforms will remain active. Stay tuned for updates as the anticipated reopening date approaches!
