Jacksonville Humane Society Seeks Foster Parents for Kittens Amid Surge in Intake
JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is reaching out to the community for help as they face a significant influx of kittens. With 531 kittens recently taken in—443 within just the last month—JHS is in urgent need of temporary foster homes to nurture these young animals until they are ready for adoption.
Located at 8464 Beach Boulevard, JHS invites residents to step up as foster parents. The organization offers essential training and supplies to foster families, ensuring that caregivers are well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of kitten care. Kittens typically require temporary homes until they reach eight weeks of age, at which point they can be returned to the shelter for spaying/neutering and preparation for adoption.
JHS caters to cats of various ages, including those that arrive at an early stage requiring hand-feeding. By fostering these kittens, community members play a critical role in their development and future chances of finding permanent homes.
For those who are unable to foster but wish to contribute, JHS warmly welcomes donations to support its operations and care for the animals. Those interested in fostering or donating can find more details at JaxHumane.org/foster.
As the demand for space and resources grows, the Jacksonville Humane Society remains committed to providing a safe haven for these vulnerable animals, relying on the goodwill and support of the community to continue its mission.
