Cranston Elementary Student Attempts to Ignite Chromebook
CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — In an alarming incident on Friday, a student at Achievement First Elementary allegedly attempted to set a Chromebook on fire. Local police were dispatched to the school on Garfield Avenue after reports surfaced of inappropriate behavior among students.
According to authorities, four students were participating in what is being referred to as the "Chromebook challenge," which involves inserting objects into the devices’ charging ports. During the activity, some smoke was reported emanating from the Chromebooks, raising safety concerns.
